Today, a hi-res music disc set from AIX records arrived.  The first is a DVD audio featuring Stravinsky and Ravel.  The second is a 3-D Blu-ray disc that features music from Mozart.  The music on both disks is recorded mastered in mixed at 96/24.  Mark Waldrep produced both.

I’m going to be posting some of my impressions about these high resolution versions.  I’m especially anxious to listen to Bolero, which has always been a favorite of mine. Additionally, the disks feature both stereo mixes and 5.1 channel mixes.
The Blu-ray disc gives an extra set of mixes that include both stage and audience perspectives.  The stage mix put you right in the middle of the band as though you were one of the musicians. Well most audiophiles are fairly adamant about two channel stereo mixes, I have always been of the opinion that taking two channel and converting it to multi-channel never gives you the full effect; however, mastering something from the beginning as a multi-channel mix is a completely different ballgame. I’m looking forward to hearing these in my multi channel set up.
